Min. Shaunda Joy Howerton is the First Lady of Little Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove, VA, where she happily serves as an associate minister under the leadership and guidance of her loving husband, Pastor Earl T. Howerton, Jr.

​

She is a proud native of Hampton, Virginia. In 2002, she graduated from the University of Maryland University College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Sensing a call to ministry, she was led by God to begin preparation. In 2005, she completed graduate school where she received a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University School Divinity. She was licensed to preach the Gospel in 2009 at Little Zion Baptist Church. Min. Howerton is a current student at Walden University where she is pursuing a second Master's degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling.

 

Min. Howerton serves within the church as well as in the community. Min. Howerton is currently the President of Daughters of Deborah Women’s Ministry of Little Zion Baptist Church. She has ministered in various churches, conducted workshops, taught spiritual development classes, organized spiritual retreats and more. She also assists the church by filling in wherever there is a need. Min. Howerton is a licensed and active REALTOR in the states of Virginia and Maryland. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

 

“First Lady” as she is affectionately called, is the proud mother of Earl Thomas, III and Justus Joel. She has a tremendous passion for serving God and His people. As a yielded vessel, this anointed woman of God continues to allow her gifts to be used for the glory of God. She is thankful to God for all things and looks with great expectation toward all that He has in store for the body of Christ.
